Chris Ogbechie is Dean and Professor of Strategic Management at Lagos Business School and Visiting Professor at Strathmore Business in Nairobi, Kenya and the University of Kigali, Kigali, Rwanda. Professor Ogbechie holds a first-class honours degree in mechanical engineering from Manchester University, an MBA from Manchester Business School and a PhD in Business Administration from Brunel Business School in the UK. He has vast experience in marketing, strategy and corporate governance derived from his work as Head of Marketing/Sales at Nestle Nigeria and from his consulting work with Nigerian, Ghanaian and Kenyan firms over the years. While in Nestle, he held international positions in Malaysia, Singapore, and Switzerland. Professor Ogbechie teaches strategy, sustainability and corporate governance at the Lagos Business School and Strathmore Business in Nairobi, Kenya. His research interests are in strategy in turbulent environments, strategic leadership, board effectiveness, and corporate sustainability. Professor Ogbechie has been involved with several start-ups, he was Chairman, Board of Directors, Diamond Bank Plc and is on the board of several private and public companies including; Red Star Express Plc (FedEx), National Salt Company of Nigeria Plc. (NASCON), Health Partners, Hubmart Stores Ltd, and Palton Morgan Holdings. He has several publications in financial services marketing, strategic planning, corporate social responsibility, and corporate governance.
Prof Ogbechie was the founding Director of the School’s Sustainability Centre and continues to provide guidance to the Centre’s management team.
Uchenna joined LBS in February 2002. He received his B.Sc and M.Sc in Sociology from the University of Lagos, and his Master of Research in Management as well as a PhD in Management from the IESE Business School, Barcelona. He is currently the Faculty Director at Lagos Business School and teaches courses in Marketing Management, Personal selling, Sales and Channel management. His research and consulting assignments span several industries focusing mainly on retail marketing management, sales and distribution channel management. He currently sits on the board of a retail marketing company and is the author of several business case studies and book chapters. His academic articles have been published in the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal and the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management. His case won the 2013 EFMD Case Writing Competition in the “African Business Cases” category. He is currently a member of the Management Board of the Lagos Business School.
Prof Uzo serves on the LBS management board and provides direct oversight to the management of the Centre.
Oreva Atanya is a management executive, author, consultant and academic who is passionate about the sustainable development and transformation of African economies and communities. She serves as Director of the Sustainability Centre at the prestigious Lagos Business School and a lead facilitator designing and delivering sessions on sustainability in business and circular economy at the school, the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) and the Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre (NCIC). She also oversees initiatives including the Nigeria National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) Scretariate, the Nonprofit Leadership and Management Academy and the Innocent Chukwuma Social Impact (ICSI) Chair and Youth Fellowship. In her leadership of the LBS Sustainability Centre, Oreva leads the globally recognised knowledge hub supporting organisations and leaders across sectors to positively impact society and integrate sustainability/ESG practices in their organisations.
Her book publications include the three (3) volume series ‘Management and Leadership for a Sustainable Africa’ published by Palgrave Macmillan, and the ‘Triple Bottom Line of Corporate Sustainable Development: Comparative Study of Sustainable Development Practices in the United Kingdom and Nigerian Oil and Gas Industries’. She has also advised and led the implementation of impact projects working with organisations including the Coca-Cola Company, Tolaram Group, Ford Foundation, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), development Research and Projects Center (dRPC) and the World Economic Forum Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP). She serves on the board of nonprofit organisations focused on youth development and environmental conservation and regeneration.
Orevaoghene is responsible for strategy execution and overall management of the LBS Sustainability Centre.
Theresa Akpoveso manages programmes at the Sustainability Centre, Lagos Business School. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Lagos Business and a B.sc in Economics and Development Studies. Theresa has experience as a programme analyst intern at the African Development Bank. She is an impact-focused professional and researcher. She designs and advances sustainability and circular economy practice through academic and executive programmes and projects especially focused on the African Markets. Theresa leads a number of corporate sustainability and circular economy programmes and fellowships for entrepreneurs and managers in the waste management, resource recovery/recycling and facilities management sectors. The impact of her work reaches hundreds of executives and medium and small enterprises creating an impact in the area of climate action, responsible use of resources and other sustainable development goals.
Theresa’s expertise is in integrating research and hands-on learning experiences to prepare professionals to lead in a world that values both corporate success and environmental responsibility. In her experience as a programme manager, Theresa has effectively obtained and managed grants to fund significant programmes that promote sustainable business.
Abam Inyang serves as Senior Associate, Partner Engagement and Communications at the Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre. He is a marketing communications professional with a track record in leveraging technology, people and processes to deliver marketing communications, manage stakeholders, and optimise public relations for corporates and clients. Currently, he actively deploys compelling narratives to help organisations mainstream sustainability into their daily operations for sustainable business performance. He has garnered experience across relevant industries spanning the public, private and non-profit sectors helping to enhance visibility and awareness for businesses.
He holds a Master’s in Media and Communication from the School of Media and Communication, with a specialisation in Marketing Communications.
Osanua is a sustainability and nonprofit programmes lead at the LBS Sustainability Centre. She is doctoral researcher in Energy and Environmental Law. She holds a first degree in Law from the Rivers State University and earned her Master’s Degree in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. Osanua is passionate about sustainable environmental and energy practices and is a published author in the International Journal of Oil, Gas and Energy Law.
She currently manages programmes and projects focused on the LBSSC thematic area of Nonprofit and Social Enterprise Management.
Paul Appiah-Konadu holds a PhD. in CSR and Sustainability from the University of Brescia in Italy. He holds a first-class honours degree in Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and a master of philosophy degree in Economics from the University of Ghana. He was a lecturer of economics, research methods and public administration at Marshalls University, Ghana from 2015 to 2018. His research interest areas are energy economics, development economics, sustainability/ESG integration in business, impact investing and inclusive development. Paul has published 10 research papers in peer-reviewed journals on various topics including risk management, foreign aid and economic growth, environmental effects of trade liberalization, energy consumption and environmental degradation as well as impact investing.
Paul is an Affiliate Researcher at the Lagos Business School Sustainability Center. He is a versatile, result-oriented and self-motivated gentleman who has a passion for advancing sustainability/ESG integration and reporting among businesses in Africa.
Dr Nathaniel Amoah is an academic and researcher, he holds a PhD. n Sustainable Consumer Behaviour from the University of Brescia in Italy, a Master of Research in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science [first class honours] in Marketing, both from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He serves as a Lecturer in Strategic Marketing at the University of East London. He is an affiliate researcher at the Lagos Business School (LBS) Sustainability Centre in Lagos, Nigeria and the Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. His research interests are; Sustainable Consumption, Green Supply Chain Management, and Commercialisation of Additive Manufactured Products.
Nathaniel Amoah lectures in marketing and serves as the Deputy Head of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation unit at Perez University College in Ghana. He has taught marketing and entrepreneurship courses at other universities, including the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and Marshalls College. He also volunteers as the head of the research and legal department for the United Nations Association of Ghana Commission for Women and Children Affairs (UNACWCA). He has previously worked with Stanbic Bank Ghana and volunteered for the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG).
Chineme Egbo is an Associate in the programmes design and management unit at the LBS Sustainability Centre. She holds a Master of Science in Fossil Chemistry with Distinction and a Bachelor’s in Industrial Chemistry both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Chineme is passionate about renewable energy, and building sustainable and ethical businesses in Africa. She has worked on several projects with the sustainability centre. Her research interests include Renewable energy, waste management, Waste to energy, corporate sustainability, climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Anthony is an Associate, Programmes and Research at the LBS Sustainability Centre. He champions the centre’s industry-focused engagements and research project coordination. He is a researcher and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Benin. Anthony is passionate about using research to offer workable and sustainable solutions that will support the growth of businesses in Africa and beyond.
