Chris Ogbechie is Dean and Professor of Strategic Management at Lagos Business School and Visiting Professor at Strathmore Business in Nairobi, Kenya and the University of Kigali, Kigali, Rwanda. Professor Ogbechie holds a first-class honours degree in mechanical engineering from Manchester University, an MBA from Manchester Business School and a PhD in Business Administration from Brunel Business School in the UK. He has vast experience in marketing, strategy and corporate governance derived from his work as Head of Marketing/Sales at Nestle Nigeria and from his consulting work with Nigerian, Ghanaian and Kenyan firms over the years. While in Nestle, he held international positions in Malaysia, Singapore, and Switzerland. Professor Ogbechie teaches strategy, sustainability and corporate governance at the Lagos Business School and Strathmore Business in Nairobi, Kenya; he is also the founding Director of the School’s Sustainability Centre. His research interests are in strategy in turbulent environments, strategic leadership, board effectiveness, and corporate sustainability. Professor Ogbechie has been involved with several start-ups, he was Chairman, Board of Directors, Diamond Bank Plc and is on the board of several private and public companies including; Red Star Express Plc (FedEx), National Salt Company of Nigeria Plc. (NASCON), Health Partners, Hubmart Stores Ltd, and Palton Morgan Holdings. He has several publications in financial services marketing, strategic planning, corporate social responsibility, and corporate governance.
Oreva Atanya is a problem solver, author, board executive and academic who is passionate about the sustainable development and transformation of African economies and communities. She leads Sustainability at the prestigious Lagos Business School and serves as a lead facilitator designing and delivering sustainability and circular economy sessions at the LBS Sustainability Centre (LBSSC), Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) and the Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre (NCIC). In her role at the LBS Sustainability Centre, Oreva leads the globally recognised Knowledge Centre in its work supporting organisations and leaders across sectors to positively impact society and integrate sustainability/ESG practices.
Apart from teaching and consulting, Oreva’s work includes leading industry projects and studies in the areas of sustainability, circular economy, sustainable and inclusive finance, sustainable food systems, social innovation, corporate social impact assessment, nonprofit management and so on. Oreva Atanya serves on committees at the Private Sector Advisory Group on SDGs in Nigeria (PSAG), Network for Business Sustainability (NBS) Canada. She is also a board member of Mzuzah Africa, the Shared Value Africa Academy (SVAA) and actively advises sustainability and youth-focused programmes, social enterprises, impact-focused startups and NGOs working in Africa.
Theresa Akpoveso manages programmes at the Sustainability Centre, Lagos Business School. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from Lagos Business and a B.sc in Economics and development studies. Theresa has experience as a programme analyst intern at the African Development Bank. Theresa is passionate about building sustainable businesses that will contribute to sustainable development in Africa.
Her research interests include corporate sustainability; responsible businesses in Africa; and shared value and sustainable development.
Nnaemeka Onoyima is the Research and Programmes Lead at Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre (LBSSC). Prior to that, he was a Management Scholar Academy (MSA) – Research Assistant to the Dean of Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University (formerly Pan-African University). He has worked on a couple of sustainability projects with the LBSSC. He has a background in Environment and Sustainability with a 3 years professional experience as an Environment and Systems Manager with the Nigerian Bottling Company (A member of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Group).
He obtained his Masters’ degree in Industrial Microbiology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with distinctions and has obtained so many more professional training and certifications.
Osanua is a doctoral researcher in Energy and Environmental Law. She holds a first degree in Law from the Rivers State University and earned her Master’s Degree in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. Osanua is passionate about sustainable environmental and energy practices and is a published author in the international journal of oil, gas and energy law. She is currently a doctoral fellow at the Lagos Business School Sustainability Center.
Paul Appiah-Konadu is a PhD. Candidate in CSR and Sustainability at the University of Brescia in Italy, and a Visiting Doctoral Researcher at the Lagos Business School Sustainability Center. He holds a first-class honours degree in Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and a master of philosophy degree in Economics from the University of Ghana. He was a lecturer of economics, research methods and public administration at Marshalls University, Ghana from 2015 to 2018. His research interest areas are energy economics, development economics, sustainability/ESG integration in business, impact investing and inclusive development. Paul has published 10 research papers in peer-reviewed journals on various topics including risk management, foreign aid and economic growth, environmental effects of trade liberalization, energy consumption and environmental degradation as well as impact investing.
Paul is a versatile, result-oriented and self-motivated gentleman who has a passion to advance sustainability/ESG integration and reporting among businesses in Africa.
Mr Amoah is an academic and researcher, he holds a Master of Research in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science [first class honours] in Marketing, both from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Nathaniel is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainable Consumer Behaviour at the University of Brescia in Italy. He is a visiting researcher at the Lagos Business School (LBS) Sustainability Centre in Lagos, Nigeria and the Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. His research interests are; Sustainable Consumption, Green Supply Chain Management, and Commercialisation of Additive Manufactured Products.
Nathaniel Amoah lectures in marketing and serves as the Deputy Head of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation unit at Perez University College in Ghana. He has taught marketing and entrepreneurship courses at other universities, including the Ghana Institute of management and public administration (GIMPA), the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and Marshalls College. He also volunteers as the head of the research and legal department for the United Nations Association of Ghana Commission for Women and Children Affairs (UNACWCA). He has previously worked with Stanbic Bank Ghana and volunteered for the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG
Chineme Egbo is the programmes and research assistant at the Lagos Business School sustainability Centre. She holds a masters in Fossil Chemistry with distinction and a bachelors in Industrial Chemistry both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Chineme is passionate about renewable energy, and building sustainable and ethical businesses in Africa. She has worked on several projects with the sustainability centre. Her research interest include: Renewable energy, waste management, Waste to energy, corporate sustainability and climate change.
Anthony is a Programmes and Research Assistant at the LBS Sustainability Centre. He supports the centre with programme design and coordination. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Benin. Anthony is passionate about using research to offer workable and sustainable solutions that will support the growth of businesses in Africa and beyond.
