LBS Sustainability Centre Hosts Facilitators to Thank You Lunch Meeting

News & Blog

In appreciation of the community of resource persons and facilitators, the Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre hosted a Lunch Meeting on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos. This gathering was not only a gesture of appreciation but also a celebration of their role in the Centre’s impact. This support community comprises faculty members of Lagos Business School and other Pan Atlantic University Schools, visiting facilitators, esteemed senior fellows and passionate volunteers, amongst others.

Oreva Atanya, Head, LBS Sustainability Centre, delivered the opening remarks and walked the audience through the history of the Centre, its milestones and aspirations. She said, “We started as the Etisalat Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2010, and transformed into FirstBank Sustainability Centre in 2014. In 2018, after 4 years, we became the LBS Sustainability Centre, moving to the next phase of the Centre’s growth. Today, we host other local and global initiatives within the Centre such as the Innocent Chukwuma Chair and Fellowship and the Nigeria National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), an initiative of the World Economic Forum. We are happy to partner with stakeholders who are interested in initiatives that further our aspirations as ecosystem builders.”

Abam Inyang, Senior Associate, Communications and Partner Engagements, informed the gathering of the five (5) thematic areas of the Centre’s mandate. He said, “The Centre has continued to deliver impactful knowledge-based programmes across its thematic areas of corporate sustainability, nonprofit and social enterprise management, responsible leadership and business, public policy and circular economy, helping to support sectoral alignment along these lines.”

Amidst the sumptuous dining, the meeting also served as a meet and greet for current and prospective resource persons to engage in constructive dialogue, and share insights and valuable suggestions that improve programme delivery. It also provided an opportunity for those looking at joining the Centre’s community to gain a deeper understanding of the impactful work being done by the Centre via its programmes, industry engagements and robust research which is helping to impact stakeholders and communities in the sustainability ecosystem.

As we reflect on the success of this gathering, we eagerly anticipate future opportunities to bring our faculty together again as part of our collective commitment to continuous growth and excellence. Through these gatherings, we not only strengthen our bonds but also reaffirm our shared dedication to advancing sustainability and making a positive impact in our communities. Here’s to many more productive collaborations and engagements in the months ahead!
